Leucorrhoea (White Discharge) – Care

Leucorrhoea is a condition where there is a white or yellowish discharge from the vagina. It can be normal (physiological) or a sign of infection or illness (pathological).

Normal (Physiological) Leucorrhoea:

  • Common during ovulation, pregnancy, or sexual arousal.
  • The discharge is usually clear or white, odorless, and not itchy.
  • No treatment is needed if there are no other symptoms.
  • May be caused by infections (fungal, bacterial, or sexually transmitted).

Abnormal (Physiological) Leucorrhoea

  • May be caused by infections (fungal, bacterial, or sexually transmitted).
  • Discharge may have a foul smell, be yellow/green/curd-like, and be accompanied by itching, irritation, or pain.

When to See a Doctor

  • Persistent or foul-smelling discharge
  • Itching, burning, or irritation
  • Pain during urination or intercourse
  • Thick, yellowish, or green discharge
Proper care, hygiene, and medical attention when needed can effectively manage leucorrhoea and prevent complications.
